The little things

God is teaching me a lot about little things, little hands, little feet, little giggles and smiles, little tushies (cute!), not so little messes. Also that the little efforts I make throughout the day make a big difference at the end of the day. Tidying a little here and there leaves much less to do later. Reading for 30-45 minutes a day lends to much extended learning. Reading the Word a little in the morning, afternoon, and evening makes a much more complete day with His words on my heart through the little challenges that are faced daily.
This week I was so blessed by His faithfulness in the little things through prayer. I am learning to not only pray often, but about the little things as well as the big. My favorite mixing bowl finally saw it's end this week. It's the biggest, lightest, best pouring bowl we have and the only one the oatmeal bake recipe (a favorite) fits in. So when it finally cracked, I knew it needed to be replaced. In anticipation that it was going to go at some point, I had already been looking for a new one as I passed by kitchen sections at local stores, but have never seen one that fit the bill. Sensing a little anxiety over a plastic mixing bowl (!) I sent a releasing prayer up to the Lord asking that He would provide a large, light weight, 12 cup mixing bowl, with a handle and pour spout, for little or no cost. Was I specific enough? Later that week we wandered into salvation army and searched through the brick brack section for misc treasures. I knew it was there, waiting for me, placed by my Father, my mixing bowl. As we came to the shelf, I saw it, scooped it up, and with a smile on my face I knowingly checked the measurements and, sure enough, it fit every request - $1.99!
What a loving Father in heaven we have to listen to such silly little things and have tenderness toward us in providing just what we need.
I think only of His loving kindness and steadfast love. It is not wearied! He wants us to come to Him for the little things, just as I want my children to come to me with everything.

I will recount the steadfast love of the Lord, the praises of the Lord, according to all that the Lord has granted us, and the great goodness to the house of Israel that he has granted them according to his compassion,
according to the abundance of his steadfast love. (Isaiah 63:7 ESV)

Blessed be the Lord, for he has wondrously shown his steadfast love to me when I was in a besieged city. (Psalm 31:21 ESV)

It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to your name, O Most High; to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night, to the music of the lute and the harp, to the melody of the lyre.
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands I sing for joy. (Psalm 92:1-4 ESV)

Whoever is wise, let him attend to these things; let them consider the steadfast love of the Lord. (Psalm 107:43 ESV)

For your steadfast love is before my eyes, and I walk in your faithfulness. (Psalm 26:3 ESV)

We have thought on your steadfast love, O God, in the midst of your temple. (Psalm 48:9 ESV)

Pray for the little things, He cares. It will greatly encourage your faith to see His hand in small ways throughout your days that when big things come that need big faith, you will have built it up little by little everyday in the One who provides for your needs by His steadfast love.
