Sweet quiet time

I was setting up the bassinet today for the new baby. The kids where very curious as to who it was for and as I was explaining it to them I thought I would just show them, so I grabbed Raggedy Ann. The whole room hushed. After changing her diaper and putting her back to sleep, Drakeford whispers "may I have her sleep on my shoulder?" Of course! So he silently takes her to his shoulder and pats her bottom to sleep as he walks around the room. Not to be out done, Marlow runs to get Raggedy Andy and his diaper too.
I sit on the floor with this sweet quietness of the room, watching these two sweeties enjoying their babies, holding them over the potty and sitting in the rocking chair to put them back to sleep.
If you have ever had more than one baby you probably know just what I'm talking about. It just made me so excited for the new baby and how much they are just going to be thrilled to care for another little soul smaller than they are!
"Healthy" will be here soon enough, we just need to be ready, in heart and mind!

Daddy we miss you!!

Guess where daddy is??
So glad The Lord has used our family as part of His plan in spreading the message of marriage and children as He defines it. And through it, leading our hearts to a right picture of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His bride the church. He loves fruitfulness! Check it out.

Come home soon daddy, we miss you!

Pains in last trimester

I wonder if I never noticed the pains and inability to get around in the last stages of gestation as much before I had two little ones to look after and teach and play with and take potty and wake up in the middle of the night with. I count it all joy! But I see my need for God's strength all the more everyday. I find myself saying things like "I can't carry two sleeping toddlers up the stairs, Lord, but you can. Give me your strength!" He is so faithful.
Last night my legs where in so much pain, I was practicing my relaxation techniques from labor class! Headed to the chiropractor after my mom gave me a raindrop technique and it is so much better. I have been having pelvic pain and back pain, it just finally all came to a peak that I couldn't handle anymore. Praise The Lord for a chiropractor I trust.
My hemoglobin lab showed low iron (10 down from 12 at first trimester) so I stopped by earth fare and got floradix, vitamin code prenatal and some C gummies for the kids. $82 later! But it's for the baby and me. Gotta stay healthy. My second day of eating a steak for lunch plus floradix and I can already tell a difference in energy levels. Lets see how long I can keep it up!
Please continue to pray for my back and that I would not strain it too much in every day activities.
And that the baby would be healthy indeed!

Dutch Baby

Grandpa gave Marlow some hand-me-down wooden shoes....she wants to wear them all the time! She asked to wear them to church. I said yes but packed a back up pair of boots just in case they started hurting her feet or she was slipping around. She kept them on the whole time and never fell. She likes the clicking sound they make on the floor. Such a sweetie! We may have to make a dress to match it.
I am so pleased to find something special that aren't plastic flip flop princess heels (really, she's 18 months)! And these are a family heirloom, how special.

Wool diaper cover

The pictures don't always post in order when I am working from my phone. But here are some photos from my attempt to replicate this disana wool soaker from the neck of a sweater. It was very quick and easy. I knew I cut it too shallow in the rise as soon as I did it but it turned out anyway. The size is 3-6 months but they fit Marlow as knee high pants.
We (my mom and I) also made a puddle pad out of a felted wool sweater and some left over minky material from Drakeford's quilt. So soft and absorbent just in case.
Next on the list of things to make for "healthy" (baby #3 nick named by Drakeford):
Wool wrap style Diaper covers
Flannel fitted diapers
Breast pads
Post partum pads
Wool sleepers
Open crotch pants

We will see what all gets done...
I also have a desire to reorganize my pantry and consign everything!

Sleep over!

Marlow REALLY wanted to sleep in Drakeford's bed! It was one of those "I've decided this is how it's going to be" things. Drakeford wasn't thrilled, he likes his space at night :)
Sorry Marlow! We already all share the same room, but at Grammys, I am in another room so she feels less secure. I guess being close to brother was a good alternative to her! Too cute.
(Yes she did sleep in her own bed but ended up in mine at around 6 am! I love baby cuddles though.)
