Sickies

We have some sort of head cold. A friend of mine, Sarah, sent me an article on GOOT and I was so thrilled! I had completely forgotten about garlic. Now to mix it with coconut and olive oil - perfect!

We have been treating with essential oils, hot tea, humidifier, and Epsom salt baths. The kids have been so pampered these last few days! If it wasn't for nighttime stuffies and coughing, it might not be so bad :)

First Drakeford, then mommy, now marlow. We are protecting daddy!! We are so glad he is home safe with us and have made it very difficult for him to return to work with all the fire side pajama parties (yes sick, but children are so spirited any time! It makes it hard for anyone to leave a cuddly little bundle like marlow-chubby-bubs)
I do realize now what a trooper Drakeford really is. He lets me do whatever I need to for him to get well and doesn't make a protest. Marlow is a tad bit more normal. One wash cloth on the head to lower her fever and she had it! (We used peppermint instead, it worked very well) They both enjoy the GOOT, tea, and essential oils though so I am pleased. Not to mention the sweet cuddles one is obligated to give - motherhood is full of hard tasks!
I pray The Lord Jesus would heal our family. In Him we live and move and breath. All for His glory, in sickness and in health.

Tupperware Mini Set

Thank you Grandmommy and granddaddy! Hours of fun! Especially when you add Cheerios. Marlow likes to pour and Drakeford just likes to pour, stack, and snack!

Nativity Showcase

We went to a lovely nativity showcase in our area. On display were 450 nativity scenes from all over the world. The kids really enjoyed it but so did the adults! One of my favorites (I didn't snap a pic!) was of a swiss village gathered around a baby. At first we laughed at it because it was silly how every one was wearing lederhosen and it just seemed like a stretch to be depicting the birth of Christ historically. Then we read a little paper next to it that said it was their grandmothers and that it was carved during the nazi invasion when they weren't allowed to celebrate Christmas or have anything resembling the birth of Christ. That is why it was so disguised as a typical alpine scene. O that someone would love the things of God enough to risk carving a nativity is beautiful.

Face painting fun

Drakeford and marlow both sat so still while getting their faces painted. Marlow was completely wiped so that may not be saying a whole lot.

Norwex - Stink!

If you have been to a Norwex party, odds are you loved the product and bought at least one item to try. I have been very satisfied with the performance of the clothes in almost every area - including easy carpet cleaning!
But one problem had me almost throw them out last week, the stink. They say if it stinks then it needs to be washed. So I wash. Still stinks. Wash it twice on hot, with towels, without, boiled in a pot, used Norwex detergent, used home made detergent, used green detergent. Still stinks. I ring out every time and use green dish soap to treat stains. Nada, still stinky. My husband even said "I don't like these any more, can I throw it down the disposal?" I think he was a little frustrated at the smell.
Then on one of the cloth diaper blogs I follow, they were talking about a product called RLR that gets ammonia stink and build up out of diapers. I have heard of this before but didn't care to purchase another laundry item. Come to find out in the post that it is mainly washing soda (which I use in the homemade detergent in a small amount.) Seeing as I have a whole box, I thought I would give it a try because we have been having ammonia issues again.
I added about 1/2 cup to the hot wash cycle for my diapers and threw a Norwex cloth in just for good measure. Everything came out smelling so clean and stink free!
I am so thrilled at this because I wanted so badly for Norwex to work for our home but was at my wits end. I quickly did a load of all my Norwex clothes and the result is the same - stink gone!

Hope this helps anyone in the same boat. Washing soda is fairly inexpensive and can be used for a variety of odor elimination (I am trying it on our pillow cases and sheets next!)

Goofy Glasses!

My beautiful bride.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for her, so that He might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless. (Ephesians 5:25-27 NASB)

This is why...

This is why I make the movies I do.

Fall Fotos

Just a day in the backyard playing with leaves. We love the fall in NC. Enjoy these photos!
